Benny Leroy Dirck
Benny Leroy Dirck, age 73 years, 2
months and 30 days, entered eternal life June 1, 2009 in
Tulsa.
He was born March 2, 1936 in Tulsa to John Henry and Sadie (Wayburn) Dirck.
A very hard working man, he dedicated
his life to law enforcement and retired after working as
Catoosa’s Chief of Police from 1981-1999.
He was the Police officer that was known to never
wear a gun...he only put a gun on if he was going on a
really terrible situation…he wasn't scared of anything
and never wore a protective vest, he always said if it
is his turn to go then it is his turn…he helped many
people in his career, and always wanted to help the Poor
Man most, the one who was trying to make a dollar the
hard way…he wanted the Underdog to win…the people of the
community either loved him or hated him, there was no
in-between, majority loving him, but he couldn't make
every one of them happy, so he did his best, and he
would stand up for what he thought was right No Matter
What!
He was a man of knowledge and kept
Catoosa's crime rate lower than anyone ever had…and
could get things done with few words or many words just
however long it took…he hated to take people to jail
unless they had committed a felony or absolutely done
something that was far out of line.
He married
Nancy
(Hanks) Plumlee August 25, 1972 in Claremore.
Benny enjoyed fixing just about anything,
projects, like working on and attending auctions for his
antique “goodies” and “what nots,” mowing and heavy
equipment operation.
He would always make everyone laugh and insisted
that everybody needed to collect something.
Benny was a yodeler and played the
harmonica and hand-bone, but most of all adored his
grandchildren.
His nickname for everybody was “Charles.”
In addition to his parents, Benny was
preceded in death by his brothers: Bill and Bob Dirck;
sister Bernice Schaben; and grandson Jeremy Toth.
He is survived by his loving wife Nancy E. Dirck;
daughters: Sherry Rogers and her husband Ivan, Christy
Toth and her husband Tom, Mindi Plumlee and Tom King;
sons: Skeeter and Lenny Dirck; grandchildren: Valecia
Dirck, Spencer Plumlee, Sarah and Nathan Rogers, Rayce,
Taylor and Tyrah Toth; great-grandson Jordan Dirck.
