Juanita Deck

Juanita Deck was born on March 7, 1927 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  At her home, surrounded by loved ones, she was called to our Lord on Oct. 7, 2009. Juanita served her country as an Air Force recruiter during the Korean War where she attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. She received a degree in Engineering and was retired from BorgWarner Inc.

Juanita was a magnificent artist, specializing in the photography as well as the creation of jewelry and stained glass. In addition, she taught classes on stained glass to adults and children. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Bernadine Lawhorn; her father Earl Lawrence Deck; her sister, Jeanne Davis; her brother, Jack Jones; and Virginia LeFavour.  Juanita is survived by one sister, Martha L. Holsted and her husband Curtis Holsted; her aunt, Ruth Twist; nieces and nephews Rick and Ginger Holsted, Terry and Terri Holsted, Mary Ellen Holsted, Lonnie Ann and James New, Deanna Marie Holsted, Jayme Noah, and Cherri and Clint Westerkamp; great nieces and nephews Paul Holsted, Jennifer and Justin Lindsey, Courtney Holsted, Angie Holsted, Curtis Phillips, Sarah New, Andrea New, Mason New, Hana Westerkemp and Ryan Westerkemp; ten great-great nephews; and her puppy Tigre. 

A Rosary will be said in her honor on Sunday, October 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kennedy-Amis-Kennard Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel  at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 with interment at Calvary Cemetery.

She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. While we are mourning your loss, others are rejoicing to be reunited with you.
